God designed people for community. Each of us has a desire “to belong” somewhere, to know one another and to be known by others. Christians have always recognized the need to be in relationship, in community. The very essence and nature of Christian community is in the sharing of life together. However, in our modern culture this is becoming increasingly difficult. We are highly mobile and under considerable time constraints. For some being involved in a small group ministry may seem somehow less authentic. K-Communities allow us to develop these relationships in a natural manner.
Living Hope Church fosters relationships through missional communities called “K-Communities.” The ‘K’ stands for Koinonoi, a Greek word that suggests that we are all fellow travelers on a journey together.
Although seeking community is often what brings many of us to Living Hope, becoming an authentic community is what makes us stay! K-Communities are missional groups of 20-50 people that work together for three things:
- To grow closer in our relationship with God and understand our identity in him;
- To grow closer together in fellowship as neighbors; and
- To serve our city and neighborhoods in mercy and justice projects.
Each K-Community” for short, consists of a number of smaller groups designed for accountability, discipleship, prayer and communion.
Koinonoi Communities are missional. That simply means they do not gather just for conversation and bible study, but seek to actively model the love and compassion of Jesus Christ. To assist members in their ongoing journey together, each K-Community also consists of a number of smaller groups designed for accountability, discipleship, prayer and communion.
While we understand that celebrating worship each Sunday is uplifting, a time to celebrate God, and an important part of our spiritual growth, we also recognize that it will not bring about life transformation. It is the relationships that we build in community where real life transformation occurs.. Come and explore what it means to be a Koinonoi Community.
